Unilever Foodsolutions sponsors 2010 World Congress for chefs |
Unilever Foodsolutions is Platinum VIP sponsor of the 34th world congress of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) – in Santiago, Chile, on January 24th – 28th 2010, the world’s largest gathering of chefs. The association is a non-profit organisation and the governing body for chefs’ organisations across the world. It represents 8 million chefs from 82 countries. It is dedicated to maintaining and improving the culinary standards of global cuisines. It accomplishes its goals through education, training and professional development. As an authority and opinion leader on food, WACS represents a global voice on all issues related to the culinary profession.
Unilever Foodsolutions continues to be highly committed to working with WACS and its societies, as demonstrated by our sponsorships of previous World Congresses, in Ireland in 2004, New Zealand in 2006 and the Emirates in 2008, and now in Chile. During the congress, Unilever Foodsolutions head chefs from 10 different countries will host cooking demonstrations in two booths, one in which participants can experience food related to the natural and authentic trend and one to Latin American flavours and cuisine. Foodsolutions products, like Knorr Professional Bouillons, Knorr Herb & Spice Pureés and Hellmann’s Authentic Vinaigrettes will be used to prepare the dishes. |
Two speeches will be given by Unilever Foodsolutions, one on ‘Chefmanship® for the future’ and one on Chefmanship® in the Latin American cuisine. Also, Foodsolutions products will be used in the Junior Chef Competition to be held during the congress. “We believe that our role is not simply about sponsoring the global Congress. It’s an opportunity to deepen the relationship between Unilever Foodsolutions, WACS, chefs’ societies and their members in different countries”, says Candan Karabagli, SVP Operations, Latin America, South and Eastern Europe and Nordics, “It’s by working together that we will create the insights on the customer and his guests and the foodservice industry, and turn these insights into solutions tailored to their needs.” |
It’s the fourth time in a row Unilever has sponsored the conference, which is held every second year. The congress attracts around 400 of the world’s most experienced chefs, many of whom work in some of largest and most famous hotels and restaurants in their countries.
